“O God, only 20 minutes are left; I have to complete this paper quickly”. I was over-absorbed in my paper when suddenly I felt my chair was moving. At first I thought it was an earthquake. I was about to scream when I heard a whisper behind my back, “Hey, please tell me the answer of last question”. On hearing this, a stream of intense rage flowed through my body and I was in a dire need to punch that girl who was asking such an innocent question from me, but as the time was flying like an irritated eagle so I decided to postpone my earnest desire and continued doing my paper.
Now a days, our beloved country Pakistan is facing grave problems such as price-hike, terrorism, corruption and load- shedding but one of the greatest trouble which I, being a student, has observed a lot during my short tenure is “Cheating during Exams”. Cheating during the paper has now become a very common phenomenon. Every student is more or less involved in it. It’s not necessary that only average and dull students commit this crime, but many position-holders are also being seen cheating during the paper quite often.
We have considered cheating an enjoyable game and feel very much pleased while playing it. This has become a general trend among students to ask from others in the paper. Even some extra ordinary brilliant students tell others before the starting of papers where are they sitting in examination hall or what is their roll number? The most interesting fact about it is that this trend of cheating is followed merrily in all stages of a student’s life. Even we know anything in the paper or not; it has become our habit to adopt this pseudo-satisfying fashion.
There are many ways and methods of cheating in the exams devised by genius students. If your examiner is strict and you can’t bring the reference book in the examination hall, no problem you can either ask from your fellow students or use some other genius methods for cheating like asking from fellow students or you can also take help from modern electronic modes. Ever wonder if these students spent that much time on learning their syllabus, they spent on devising ways for cheating, they can create wonders, but it’s the dilemma of our society that we feel much relaxed and satisfied in doing wrong.
Now the question arises: Why do the students feel an urge for cheating? Can’t they survive without it? No doubt by cheating you can get more marks in the paper. Even a failing student can pass the paper via cheating and a second position holder can take first position, but will this cheating benefit you in the long run? No and never, you may get promoted to the next class by cheating but your knowledge will be zero and this will cause you great harm in your practical life. You won’t be able to excel in your field due to lack of knowledge because you have passed your papers by cheating not by learning, but it’s the wild nature of man that he always adopts easy paths in life no matter how harmful they are.
Moreover, cheating in exams is a heinous crime. It’s similar to betraying someone because by cheating you are betraying your teachers, parents and your prestigious institutes where you are studying proving them that you are an intelligent student but in fact, you are no more than a copy cat. You have shown such excellent results by taking help from others. It’s not your effort and it will definitely not benefit you in your later life. Your practical life will just be a farce in which you guys will be playing robotic roles by following others’ orders, but as it is said, “There is no use crying over spilt milk”, soyour hue and cry won’t benefit you in your practical life.
Always keep one thing in mind; although the wrong path seems to be very attractive and beautiful but it’s actually a quick-sand in which once you put your feet into, you’ll keep on going inside and there’s no way out.
After reading this article, I hope most of you will try to avoid indulging into the crime of cheating in examination.
